- Greater Atlantic Rescue Dogs (GARD) is an all-volunteer Search, Rescue and Recovery organization
- GARD uses specially trained dogs to find lost or missing people in wilderness, rural or disaster environments. We train and employ airscent, trailing, and Human Remains Detection dogs in a wide variety of environments and weather conditions, including farmland, wilderness, and urban areas.
- Some of our K-9 /Handler teams are trained in disaster response and can assist in rescue and recovery operations conducted in the aftermath of man-made or natural disaster.
- GARD is formally recognized by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) as a state resource for search, rescue and recovery operations. GARD is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
